Didier Drogba signs a new contract

Didier Drogba has ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract with Chelsea. The Ivory Coast striker has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Blues to keep him in West London until 2012. Drogba's previous contract was due to expire in 2010. The 31-year-old endured an indifferent start to the 2008-09 season, but produced some of his best form in the run-in, netting in the Blues' FA Cup final victory over Everton. Drogba has scored 55 goals in 134 league appearances for the Blues. "I have decided to extend my contract with Chelsea for two extra years and I am very happy and proud to continue to wear the blue of Chelsea until then," he told the club's official website. "I love the club, I feel good here and I want to continue to win titles with them. "But my number one objective is to win the Champions League. I am convinced that this year we can go to the end and finally lift this trophy.
"I'd like to take advantage of this message to thank the Chelsea supporters who have always encouraged me with fervour as well as all my fans."
