Rafa still feels liverpool fc can made to the champions league knockout stage.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez remains convinced his side can reach the last 16 of the Champions League even after Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat to Lyon. It was the Reds' fourth successive loss in all competitions and piled the pressure on the beleaguered Benitez. Liverpool are now third in Group E and must travel to Lyon next month for their next group game but, having already lost to Fiorentina, their hopes of progressing are hanging by a thread.
However, Benitez remains upbeat, saying: "It was a difficult game for us, but we were winning 1-0 and had two or three chances that could have changed everything. "We are really disappointed because it was a difficult game that we could have won.
"But we have done it before and now we have to do the same. We have to be ready for the next game and try to win, and afterwards do the same with the other two games in the group. "We have done it before and we have to have confidence we can do it again." Liverpool will try to end their barren run when they face Premier League leaders Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, with Benitez adding: "We will have to prepare the players and push them. We will prepare for the game like always and keep going.
"It is a question of doing things properly and having confidence. "Again, I will say we had chances tonight and everything could have been different. "But we have to prepare for the next game. That is our job and we will do it from as soon as I finish this press conference. We have to be ready."
